“A full service spa that is actually interested in your well-being! So far the services I've had are cut, style and eyebrow waxing. And they were all outstanding! I've had a couple of different stylists there, and they were all wonderful. It's a bummer to get used to working with someone and find out they've left, but it's also really great to walk back in and find out that the new stylist has all of the notes on your cut and preferences! The price is reasonable and completely worth it. Perhaps in line with some of the prices at Mario Tricoci, but the atmosphere, quality of services and overall customer service experience are far superior! Tips must be in cash, so plan accordingly. Okay, yes, they do want you to buy products there. But so far the Bumble & Bumble products I've bought are fantastic, recommended for good reason, and Ruby Room sells them for retail cheaper than you can find them online or at other stores. “After relocating to Wicker Park last month, I found myself in need of a new stylist. Every girl knows, a good cut can make or break you. I knew a couple of friends that had visited The Ruby Room for haircuts and were pleased with the results so I decided to try it out as well. I called on a Friday and got in with a same day appointment. This made me very happy. I am normally not a last minute appointment maker, but the need was there. I was given the choice of a jr. or sr. stylist. For the $30 price difference, I chose the jr. stylist. The receptionist was very accommodating on the phone. I arrived for my appointment and the receptionist was equally accommodating in person. I was honestly treated like I had been their top client for 10 years. I was taken back to the salon area and Toni was ready for me. Toni was very warm and friendly and from what I learned a recent addition to the Ruby Room staff. Toni sat down with me, got to know me and really listened to what I wanted. Once my experience was complete, I had just the haircut I wanted. And, to top it off, the blow out was AHHHMAAAZING! I hardly ever leave a stylist and like my hair. Not sure why that's the case, it just is. I told Toni had I known it was going to look that good, I would have come in the next day so she could have done her magic for my birthday party.” -Amy M

“… The woman who answered the phone, Kelly, was very accommodating and friendly. I asked her a bazillion questions and was concerned with the salon having a stylist who knew how to do "ethnic" hair (I am Asian with stubborn and very thick hair that is also prematurely gray). I was able to book a consult on Wednesday and appointment for Friday. Kelly called me on Tuesday to remind me about the consult and I asked her if anyone canceled on Wed - and lucky stars! A cancellation - so my consult turned into the real deal. I was scheduled with Toni - she is new there, but has been a hairstylist and colorist for 6 years I think. She was very cool and nice. Most importantly, she knew what I wanted and what I needed. She corrected my color and gave me the shades I wanted (I got an all over color and some kind of highlights). The cut was perfect and so was the blow out. Yes she did her product pitch, but hey its business and a girl has got to make a living, besides I like suggestions on products and yeah the products are high end and not cheap (this is a high end salon with a laid back attitude not Super Cuts)… Toni also specializes in ethnic hair! Anyway, she did a great job and even offered a free makeup touch up, which I really appreciated. While she was touching up my makeup, I was lucky to chat with some of the staff there and they were all very friendly… All in all, the service was great, price was in-line with similar high end services, and the atmosphere was calm, clean, and professional. I did not experience any attitude and I love that its not all chaotic as some salons can be. But maybe its because I was the first customer of the morning. Oh yeah I liked the place so much, I bought a gift certificate for a birthday present to my friend!”
